You'll find information and resources about Summit Woods Baptist Church and our ministries at the welcome center in the foyer. Here someone will be available to answer any questions and help you navigate our facility. Nursery and Children's Ministry

We use a computerized check-in at Summit Woods Baptist Church for our Children's minisry. It is our objective to simplify and expedite the process without compromising the safety of your children.  This document will help to familiarize you with our procedures, in addition to identifying the check-in location near the Children’s Ministry hallway. If you have a child in one of the nursery or toddler classes, we use mobile phone text messaging. This will give you peace of mind as you are in Sunday School or the Worship Gathering to know that your child's teachers can notify you anywhere in the building through text message.

Equipping Classes & Children's Sunday School

We have small group bible study available for all ages. The Sunday bulletin has a list of all the classes and classroom numbers. You will notice that adults have many options, so we encourage guests to feel free to try various classes before deciding which one is right for them. Please visit the front foyer for help in finding the various classes and rooms.

Sunday Morning Gathering

sanctuaryOur morning gathering begins at 10:30 a.m. and is about an hour and a 1/2 long. You will see people from many different walks of life, ethnicities, and ages. Our music is a blend of both new and old songs (SWBC on Spotify). We don't try and cater to any one generation, but rather choose songs that any generation can sing and appreciate. The longer you are with us, the more you will find the substance and style of our songs to emphasize the church singing together as one body. Our service is also marked by Scripture reading and prayer. If you don't have a Bible, there is one for you at your seat - feel free to take it as our gift to you. We encourage you to reflect carefully on what is read and join us in praying together as a church.

Children (K-5th) are dismissed (1st through 3rd Sundays) to a dedicated children's teaching time during the final song before the sermon. When you see the choir leaving the platform, that is the the cue to take your children to the appropriate location. The largest portion of our service is devoted to teaching the Bible. Our sermons are generally 50 minutes to an hour in length and typically focus on a particular passage in the Bible that will be explained. A page in our weekly bulletin is dedicated for you to take down the main points and any relevant points for further and future reflection. At the conclusion of our service, we sing a song that helps us to appropriately respond to what we have heard in the teaching. Elders will be available to meet with you following the gathering in the sanctuary or foyer.

SUNDAY Evening GATHERING

From September through April, our evening gatherings take place on the 2nd, 4th and 5th Sundays of the month. Our evening gatherings begin at 5:00 pm and are about an hour long. They have a particular focus on praying and singing together. The sermons are generally 30 minutes in length and each year multiple men, who have shown a desire to learn and grow in preaching, preach through a specific book of the Bible.

Winter Weather Policy

snowy treesIn general, it will not be our policy to cancel our Sunday Morning Gathering at 10:30 am. We have a contract with a snow removal company who is responsible to clear and salt the parking lot in time for the gathering, so the church will be accessible.

Equipping Class and Sunday School, which depend on a greater number of volunteers, may be cancelled. The decision to cancel Equipping classes or Sunday school (or the main service, in the case of truly dangerous weather conditions) will be made by 6:00 AM on Sunday morning.

Cancellations or revisions to the schedule will be communicated via email, Remind text messaging, facebook, twitter, and the website. Please check these sources prior to traveling.

Please use caution when making a decision to travel in inclement weather.
