Living in Light of God
PREPARE YOUR HEART FOR THE SERMON BY LOOKING THROUGH THESE SUGGESTIONS THAT WILL ASSIST YOU IN MAKING THE MOST OF OUR TIME TOGETHER HEARING GOD'S WORD.

You will find suggestions for thinking more critically through the passage, meditating more intently on the text, and prayerfully seeking wisdom to deepen your understanding of the passage to be preached this Sunday.

Carefully Think

  • What is the context of this passage? What is going on in chapter 11? Where do these verses fall within the overarching structure of the book as a whole?

  • What aspects of God’s nature is Paul breaking out into doxology over?

  • Why might Paul call God’s wisdom and knowledge a depth of riches? In what way is this true?

  • What is the difference between wisdom and knowledge? Is there a distinction being made between these two or are they parallel?

  • What would infinite wisdom and knowledge imply about the judgments and ways God works?

  • What is Paul accomplishing in asking questions in verses 34-35?

  • How many things are from, through or to God according to verse 36?

Prayerfully Meditate

  • What would the world be like if God were not wise? Write out several thoughts.

  • How would a person act if they did not believe God was wise or omniscient? Explain.

  • What are each of the prepositions in verse 36? What do these different directions in relation to God mean?

  • Why did God’s wisdom lead Paul to worship? Why is this coming up now in the letter to the Romans?
