Prepare your heart for our Sunday Morning Gathering by looking through these suggestions that will assist you in making the most of our time together.

You will find tangible suggestions for putting scripture to action in your personal life and in our corporate body, links to the songs we will sing, and lyrics for you to prepare for our corporate singing.

Please see the Preparing for the Sermon post for suggestions in thinking more critically through the passage, meditating more intently on the text, and prayerfully seeking wisdom to deepen your understanding of the passage to be preached this Sunday.

Intentionally Act

  • Read Matthew 5:21-26?
  • Do you view the heart attitude of anger as egregiously as the Lord does comparing it to murder? Why or why not?
  • Is there anyone who you have expressed anger towards that you have not sought reconciliation with? Write their names down and make plans to immediately ask for their forgiveness and seek reconciliation as the Lord commands in this passage.
  • If chapters 5-7 are explaining what the requirements are to be a citizen in His kingdom can a Christian be characterized by anger and be a citizen of the kingdom? What warning should we draw from this? How should we deal with our anger in relation to the warning Jesus gives?
  • What is the main truth being taught in Matthew 5:21-26? Summarize it in 21 words or less.
  • Click the links below to find the lyrics and recordings of the songs planned for our gathering this Sunday; practice the songs, study the lyrics and sing together.
  • Pray for those leading our corporate gathering this week and for the Holy Spirit’s work as the Word of God is further explained and applied: Dawson Bryant: music; Rob Stouffer: elder prayer & scripture reading; Todd Dykstra: teaching.
