Prepare your heart for our Sunday Morning Gathering by looking through these suggestions that will assist you in making the most of our time together.

You will find tangible suggestions for putting scripture to action in your personal life and in our corporate body, links to the songs we will sing, and lyrics for you to prepare for our corporate singing.

Please see the Preparing for the Sermon post for suggestions in thinking more critically through the passage, meditating more intently on the text, and prayerfully seeking wisdom to deepen your understanding of the passage to be preached this Sunday.

Intentionally Act

  • How can the names “the LORD” (Yahweh) and “God Almighty” (El Shaddai) shape your understanding and praise of God? What are other names of God found in the Bible that you can meditate on and praise?
  • The Israelites were unwilling to listen to Moses or God due to their heart’s despondency and their captors’ cruelty (Exodus 6:9). In what ways are you tempted to turn a deaf ear to God during trials from within your own heart and from outside pressures and persecution? How might you need to repent, listen, and trust in God’s promises and faithfulness?
  • God grounds His promises of redemption and blessing to Israel in His covenant with them. What promises do we have in the New Covenant through Christ, and how can you trust in God’s faithful love today?
  • How far back can you trace your own spiritual “genealogy” in the Christian faith from those who shared the Gospel with you or helped lead you to Christ (for instance, 2 Timothy 1:5)? How does your Christian “heritage” both humble you and comfort you in the Lord’s sovereign providence?
  • Click the links below to find the lyrics and recordings of the songs planned for our gathering this Sunday; practice the songs, study the lyrics and sing together.
  • Pray for those leading our corporate gathering this week and for the Holy Spirit’s work as the Word of God is further explained and applied: Dawson Bryant: music; Sam Karl: elder prayer & scripture reading; Bret Capranica: teaching.
