Genesis - Summer 2017

Prepare your heart for our Sunday Morning Gathering by looking through these suggestions that will assist you in making the most of our time together.

You will find tangible suggestions for putting scripture to action in your personal life and in our corporate body, links to the songs we will sing, and lyrics for you to prepare for our corporate singing.

Please see the Preparing for the Sermon post for suggestions in thinking more critically through the passage, meditating more intently on the text, and prayerfully seeking wisdom to deepen your understanding of the passage to be preached this Sunday.

Intentionally Act

  • Seek to kill prideful, selfish motives in your life. Anything in your life where you "but God...". This phrase is only powerful and helpful when God says it.
  • Examine how your heart fights against hearing God's Words and obeying God's Words. Very often we catch ourselves thinking, "I didn't know," "I didn't believe it would matter," or "I didn't want to hurt anyone." In these cases, we are usually ignoring God's Words and His perfect wisdom for our ideas, craftiness, and desires. Repent where you neglect God's gift of Scripture that helps to reign in our rebellious hearts, use it, do not abuse it.
  • Keep one another accountable to God's Word, engaging with one another. Get involved in Growth Groups, Titus 2 groups, Ironmen groups, individual discipleship, Moms and Mentors, or any discipleship relationships here with other members at Summit Woods.  Do not be like Adam who stood on the side and watched Eve fall; he was held more accountable due to his neglected role. Help one another fight sin by clearing the log from your own eye and helping out your brother in examination and fighting.
  • Click the links below to find the lyrics and recordings of the songs planned for our gathering this Sunday; practice the songs, study the lyrics and sing together.
  • Pray for those leading our corporate gathering this week and for the Holy Spirit’s work as the Word of God is further explained and applied: Joel Conrad: music; Adam Naler: Elders' prayer & scripture reading; Bret Capranica: teaching.
