- Contemplate your prayer life in light of Isaac’s apparent 20 years of pleading with God for children. What are some basic practical steps you can take to cultivate this kind of prayer life?
- Respond to the faithfulness of God to continue in his promises and blessings to the next generation in this text. Will God ever not keep his Word? Has God ever not followed through on something he said he would do? What kind of hope does this give us for the future?
- Consider the providence of God to use Jacob’s cunning to inherit the birthright and fulfill the words of v. 23. How should this shape our understanding of and response to the providence and plan of God?
