- Read Matthew 21:1-11 and Zechariah 9
- Considering the quote from Zechariah in v. 5, how can the humility of Jesus be compared to that of the mother of James and John (Matt 20:21)?
- Looking at Zechariah 9:16-17, what is the aim of Jesus' triumphal entry?
Prayerfully Meditate
- Consider the humility of Christ in verse 5.
- Compare the reaction of the crowd in verse 9 with that of the crowd in Matthew 27:20-23.
- If asked to do something seeming mundane, as the disciples in verses 1 and 2, for the Lord, what would your reaction be?
- How do you celebrate Jesus and His work on your behalf?
Intentionally Act
- Take time to be intentional in celebrating the Lord.
- Seek to make the most of your time as we await the second triumphal entrance of Jesus.
- Pray that the Holy Spirit will use the preaching of this passage in your continuing sanctification as well as that of the entire congregation.
- Pray for those who will be leading the service this week: Dawson Bryant, music; Mark Krystyniak, scripture reading and prayer; Bret Capranica, teaching.
