Elder's Prayer

Please find below the notes from the Elder's Prayer this past Sunday.

God of all majesty,

We bow before you in reverence.  You have put in place the seasons of the earth. We thank you for your faithfulness.

You command the morning and cause the dawn to know its place. You have walked in the recesses of the deep and entered into the springs of the sea. Your infinite understanding established the expanse of the earth, the depth of the deepest darkness to the heights of the glorious heavens.

As the Maker of it all, you know the way to the dwelling of light, storehouses of snow and hail. Your providence oversees the way of a thunderbolt. The winds obey your commands.

You provide nourishment and satisfy the appetites of every kind of creature in nature.

Your unparalleled supremacy is reflected in all your creation. Even in the fallen world, we behold the glimpse of your majesty.

We praise you YAHWEH that no one can annul your judgment. I AM that I AM, you clothe yourself with honor and majesty. You adorn yourself with eminence and dignity. You alone are God.

Please forgive us for contending with the Almighty without proper knowledge and understanding.

Please forgive us for the times when we lacked self-control in our speech. We talked big with nothing to back up like only you could. We are insignificant.

We declared things which we did not understand, things too profound for us that we did not know.

We seek your help to know our place. understand that only you can do all things and that no purpose of yours can ever be thwarted.

We do repent in dust and ashes. We thank you for your faithfulness to forgive our sins when we confess and repent of them (1 John 1:9-10).

We stand in awe that your providence oversees the details of even our insignificant lives. The steps of our lives are established by you (Psalm 37:23). Even in our old age, you will sustain us, rescue us and carry us for you made us (Isaiah 46:4).

When we are distracted, anxious, restless and downcast, please help us to focus on you alone, on your providence, your majesty and who you are as the beginning and the end.

We thank you for the greatest privilege of calling this awesome God as our Father, through the finished work of our Lord Jesus on the cross. In His precious name, we pray, Amen.
