Elder's Prayer

Please find below the notes from the Elder's Prayer this past Sunday.

Heavenly Father,

We give thanks and sing praises to you, for you are good and your loving kindness endures forever.

We thank you for this Lord’s Day that we could gather here in your holy name to worship you together with our brothers and sisters in Christ.

Please help us to continue investing ourselves to stimulate one another in Christlike love and good deeds, encouraging one another even as we await our Lord’s return. (Hebrews 10:24)

We thank you for the complete revelation that we have in our Lord Jesus Christ (Hebrews 1:2) and in the closed canon of Scripture.

Even while professing to believe in the Scriptures, and even after listening to faithful exposition of your word week in and week out, we still fall prey to the “feel good” cultural influences of our days, we are often succumbed to the unrelenting desires to be approved of men and have our own way be the standard as opposed to seeking the approval of God, doing the will of God and looking up to God’s word as the final standard of truth. Please forgive us.

We thank you for being our strength and helping us to get back up when our pursuit of the world and its comforts have failed us.

May we be completely satisfied in Christ alone. Please keep us from wandering and stumbling.

You are our God. Please protect us from only desiring deliverance without wanting to yield to your guidance.

We thank you for your providential outworking in our lives that goes beyond us receiving the temporal blessings in this world.

We praise you, God, for all your blessings, even the ones we cannot see.

Please help us to trust and obey even as you mold us into the image of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Sovereign Lord, please may we have the unshakable confidence and joy in how you have decided the place and circumstances that you can use us best for your glory. (Romans 8:28-29; James 1:2-4)

May the words – “submission” and “surrender” reflect the status of wills bowed down before you, at all times.

Be glorified!

We pray this in the name of your Holy Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, Amen.
