Elder's Prayer

Please find below the notes from the Elder's Prayer this past Sunday.

Lord we come before you today to give thanks to you our rock and our redeemer.

We give thanks for your plan of redemption and your gospel call that goes out to all the world-to every tribe and to every nation-without partiality.

You call everyone to rest in Christ-all who are weary and heavy-laden-all who are weighed down by sin.

We give thanks that we are able to partake of the rest that is found only in Christ.

You saved us, not on the basis of our deeds, but according to Your mercy.

You cleanse us and renew us by your Spirit, whom you poured out richly on us through Jesus Christ our Savior-He died for all, so that all who come to him in faith and repentance might live.

And, as a result, we no longer live for ourselves, but for Him who died and rose again on our behalf.

We give thanks because we are justified by your grace and made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.

We give thanks to you for the transforming work of the gospel.

Recalling that we once regarded Christ and others according to the flesh; but now we regard him and each other thus no longer.

We now understand that in Christ we are made new-we are new creatures; the old things passed away-new things have come.

All these things are from you O Lord-you who reconciled us to yourself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation.

Help us to be ever mindful that we are called to be your ambassadors for Christ-you make your appeal through us-the appeal that all be reconciled to you through him.

We give thanks today for your saving grace, your transforming gospel and your commission to us as your ambassadors.

May we serve you humbly and gratefully-always rejoicing, always giving thanks, no matter what the circumstances.

Thank you Lord-for all these gifts and for what is yet to come-it’s in Christ’s name we pray.
