Elder's Prayer

Please find below the notes from the Elder's Prayer this past Sunday.

Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; for his steadfast love endures forever. Let all who fear the Lord say ‘his steadfast love endures forever.’

You are our strength and our song, you are our salvation. You are holy and matchless in glory.

It is better for us to take refuge in the Lord than for us to trust in man. It is better for us to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in worldly powers.

When your people are in distress, we call on you and you answer and set us free. You are always on the side of those who love you – what do we have to fear?

If you discipline us, we can trust that you will never turn us away. Your hand will preserve us.

If illness and disease threaten us, we know that they only go as far as you allow them to go. Your hand will keep us.

You conquer all – sin and illness and death. There is no battle that you lose, no enemy that can overcome you, no circumstance or moment that catches you by surprise.

Thank you that you have answered our prayers and become for us our salvation. Our salvation, our preservation, our sanctification is your doing and it is marvelous in our eyes.

Open to us the gates of righteousness that we may enter through them and give thanks to the Lord. As long as we live, we will recount the deeds of the Lord.

You are our God and we will give thanks to you. Oh give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; for his steadfast love endures forever.

Amen.
