Elder's Prayer

Please find below the notes from the Elder's Prayer this past Sunday.

This morning, I’d like to lead us in prayer for gospel ministers and for the progress of the gospel. Let’s pray.

God of all glory and honor, hallowed be your name! May your kingdom come, and may your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. We praise you King of Kings and Lord of Lords for your unmatchable holy name. We thank you for your eternal purposes for your unworthy servants.

We thank you for blessing the Church with the apostles, prophets, evangelists, shepherds and teachers (Eph 4:11) as gifts from above to equip the saints for the work of ministry.

We pray for every local congregation that is founded upon the clear teaching of God’s word. Please grant your under-shepherds courage and strength to preach the unadulterated gospel and its implications in season and out of season. Please grant them singular desire to please you and stand approved before you. Please grant them clarity on what their calling is and encourage their souls especially during this time. Please strengthen them to continue serving for your glory. Please remove any impediments and distractions from their pursuit of you. May their love for you, your word, their family and their congregants increase all the more. Please help them in their prayer life. Please help them pray in their prayers. Please protect them from the ungodly influences of the world, flesh and the enemy of our souls.

We praise you that He who is in us is greater than he who is in the world. You are our only protector. Please protect our gospel minister from the traps of the enemy.

We beg you, Master, for open doors for the gospel to spread and bear fruit.

Please help all of the true believers in every local congregation to be bold and preach the gospel. We pray for us and for those who will be receiving our gospel presentation to have the Spirit of wisdom and understanding.

We pray for every people group on the face of the earth, civilized and un-civilized. Please raise up faithful men and women to reach the ends of the earth as well as next door with the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Please raise up men and women like Timothy, Titus, John Mark, Luke, Aquilla and Pricilla, Lydia, Mary the mother of Jesus, Mary Magdalene and Martha from our midst. Please bless us with the same zeal they had to live and die for the gospel. Please help us to love you more than we love your gifts like our forefathers of faith did.

Father, we do pray for this upcoming Thanksgiving family gatherings.

We pray for those who will not be able to be together with their families this holiday season. Please encourage their souls and help them to be focused on you, our author and perfector of our faith.

Lord God almighty, please help us all to embody Christ in our conversations, attitudes and actions. Father, we implore you to bring the unsaved family members to the saving knowledge of Jesus.

We long for the day when every knee shall bow, and every tongue shall confess that Jesus is the Lord.

Please use these unworthy servants of yours in any way you see fit to that end.

We pray this in the name of our Savior, Jesus Christ, Amen.
