Elder's Prayer

Please find below the notes from the Elder's Prayer this past Sunday.

You are God and there is no other. You are the first and the last; besides you there is no god.

You are the God that declares what is to come and what will happen. You will bring to pass what you have spoken.

In your power, you created us. You formed us in your image. You have set us over the rest of your creation.

For your name’s sake, you provide for us life and joy and pardon and glory.

For your glory, you provide redemption and righteousness and peace.

You are God and there is none like you.

You make known new things, things that were hidden from our sight and our hearing.

In your wisdom, you provided life from death, and pardon from blood, and glory from shame, and joy from grief.

According to your purposes, Christ shed his blood to redeem us from sin, Christ lived to provide us righteousness, and Christ intercedes to provide us peace.

It is because you are this kind of God that we have hope during difficult times. It is because you are this kind of God that we have comfort in our pain. It is because you are this kind of God that we have confidence to endure.

You are the God who does all of these things for the sake of your own name and your own glory. Your wisdom shall stand and you will accomplish all of your purposes.

Amen.
