Elder's Prayer

Please find below the notes from the Elder's Prayer this past Sunday.

Heavenly Father,

Thank you for enabling us to gather together to worship you. Thank you for the ever-multiplying grace, peace, comfort and strength to live our lives for you.

We praise you for your sovereign will in giving us our Lord Jesus Christ who in turn gave Himself for our sins that we might be rescued from this present evil age. Thank you for the gift of the Holy Spirit who is leading us into all truth.

Thank you for setting us free from the bondages of sin and the freedom we enjoy in Christ Jesus.

Please help us to keep standing firm and not subject ourselves again to the yoke of slavery of traditions and fear of men.

Abba Father, please help us to crucify the flesh with its passions and desires.

Please help us to walk by the Spirit that we may not carry out the desires of the flesh. May each of our lives be marked by the fruit of the Spirit: Christlike love, fullness of joy, peace that surpasses all understanding, imitating God’s patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness with us, and as redeemed children of God, please help us to be wise and exercise self-control in all the areas of our lives.

Please help us to continue to live and walk by the Spirit in humility, that we may sow to the Spirit and reap eternal life. Please help us to not to lose heart and grow weary in doing good.

God the Father, we remember the fallen service members during this Memorial day weekend. We thank you for their bravery and sacrifice for our freedom on earth.

War in Ukraine reminds us that this freedom is not guaranteed indefinitely. Please come Lord Jesus. May your kingdom come and be established here on earth as it is in heaven.

We pray for the families of the fallen service members that you would comfort them and draw them unto you through this irreplaceable loss.

We owe anything good in our society to your grace.

We owe anything good in us as the body of Christ to your continued work of the Holy Spirit in our lives. We thank you and praise you for that. All glory be to you alone.

May our lives, thoughts, attitudes and the intentions of the heart bring glory to you now and forevermore.

We pray this in the name of our Great High Priest and our Lord Jesus Christ, Amen.
