Elder's Prayer

Please find below the notes from the Elder's Prayer this past Sunday.

O LORD, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth, who have displayed your splendor above the heavens! (Psalm 8:1)

O Lord my God, you are very great; you are clothed with splendor and majesty.

God, we praise you that you stretched the heavens like a tent curtain. The light is your cloak. The winds are your messengers. Flaming fires are your ministers. We are in awe before you.

We praise you Lord God for establishing the earth upon its foundation that it will not totter forever and ever. We praise you for ordaining streams to flow from the mountains producing majestic and powerful waterfalls.

We praise you for the peaceful, serene quite waters of the midland.

You established boundaries for the waters that they will not ever return to cover the whole earth. We thank you for that.

At your rebuke, mountains rise, and valleys sink down. We ascribe greatness to you, our Creator God.

We praise you for creating everything in heaven and on earth.

We thank you for the divine provisions of the air we breathe and the water we drink and food that nourishes our bodies.

We thank you for the appointed seasons, stars, galaxies and the ever-expanding universe.

We praise you because all of that are your works and you sustain them. In your unfathomable wisdom, you made them all. The earth O, Lord is full of your possessions.

Let the glory of the LORD endure forever, Let the LORD be glad in His works. (Section based on Psalm 104)

This awesome, almighty, amazing, all-knowing, self-sufficient, good, perfect, fearful, unrestrained, holy, righteous, loving, faithful, everlasting, one and only God, is our God – is our Father.

Oh, we are so insignificant Master. Insignificant is an understatement. we lay our hand on our mouth and repent. Please forgive us of our sins and have mercy upon us.

We thank you for the undeserved spirit of adoption as sons so we could cry out, Abba! Father! (Romans 8:15)

We are the sheep of your pasture. Please lead us, our loving shepherd. (Psalm 95:7)

We are your slaves. We want to leave behind a legacy of righteousness as your children. Please help us to walk in the newness of life, in the good works created for us in Christ Jesus before time began.

Please help us to be patient with your providence as with our thick headedness we may not comprehend it in the moment.

Please help us to trust and obey - endure till the end.

We pray this in the reverent name of our Lord Jesus Christ, Amen.
