Elder's Prayer

Please find below the notes from the Elder's Prayer this past Sunday.

"9 For this reason also, since the day we heard of it, we have not ceased to pray for you and to ask that you may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, 10 so that you will walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, to please Him in all respects, bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God; 11 strengthened with all power, according to His glorious might, for the attaining of all steadfastness and patience; joyously 12 giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified us to share in the inheritance of the saints in Light. 13 For He rescued us from the domain of darkness, and transferred us to the kingdom of His beloved Son, 14 in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins." (Colossians 1:9-16)

"15… He who is the blessed and only Sovereign, the King of kings and Lord of lords, 16 who alone possesses immortality and dwells in unapproachable light, whom no man has seen or can see. To Him be honor and eternal dominion! Amen." (1 Timothy 6:15,16)

Lord, there is no one else - inside or outside of our knowledge - deserving of our praise!

You alone are worthy of worship, because you were gracious to create us with just a word.

You alone are worthy of worship, because you were merciful to choose us, and to save us for your own perfect, irresistible purpose.

You alone are worthy of worship, because you alone were worthy to die for us - to be the satisfying object of God’s wrath and punishment for our sin!

You are holy! Yes, sinless... But you are holy because you are the ultimate being in every existing realm.

You are the Creator, Authority, Judge, and Executor of every other being that is.
So make our lives to be lived worthy of you, our Savior.

Fill us with a knowledge of your will with all wisdom and understanding, that we might be pleasing to you in all respects.

Give us fruit to bear. Continually increase our knowledge of you. Strengthen us daily with the glorious power that is unique only to you, that we would be steadfast and patient through the refining trial and process that makes us worthy of being called saints.

Teach us to be thankful to the Father for qualifying us to inherit salvation through the death of His Son - our Lord. For it is in Him alone that we have been rescued from the domain of darkness. Our citizenship has been transferred to the kingdom of His Son: Jesus Christ, And now we have redemption - we are bought back - by the blood and forgiveness of Him who is the blessed and only Sovereign, the King of kings and Lord of lords, who alone possesses immortality and dwells in unapproachable light, whom no man has seen or can see. So to Him be honor and eternal dominion! Amen.
