Elder's Prayer

Please find below the notes from the Elder's Prayer this past Sunday.

Holy Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,

Blessed be your name. Thank you for your great mercy that caused us to be born again to a living hope.

We praise you for your awesome power that brought Jesus Christ to this earth and that raised Christ Jesus from the dead. We thank you that the same power is at work within us.

Thank you for the imperishable and undefiled inheritance reserved in heaven for us.

Thank you that we are being and will continue to be protected by your power, through faith, for a salvation that will be revealed at the last time.

It is mind-boggling Father, to think that your holy prophets with their diligent study of your Holy Word with much more sincere prayers and fasting for hours, that we only dream of, still could not figure out the Person and the nature and the work of Jesus Christ.

Even the angels who were in your very presence did not have the full picture.

Yet, you graciously revealed the mystery of the incarnation and the gospel to these unworthy servants of yours, which even those mighty angels longed to look into. What they couldn’t, you opened our eyes to comprehend to the extent that we could, to behold the wondrous things of the gospel.

Thank you that these holy men were serving us. Because of their faithful service, here we are understanding the complete picture from Old to the New Testament by the gracious work of the Holy Spirit in us.

We praise you and thank you for that. It is all of grace and we boast in you.

Please help us to fix our hope on you and on your faithful Character alone. Please help us to be holy even as you are holy.

We were not redeemed by perishable things. We were redeemed by the precious blood of the unblemished and spotless Lamb of God.

Even though we are like withering grass and its falling flowers, there is hope of eternal life with you because you are from everlasting to everlasting and your word endures forever.

Throughout the remainder of our days, please help us to conduct ourselves in holy reverence to you.

We pray this in the name of the Lamb of God, our Lord Jesus Christ, Amen.
