Elder's Prayer

Please find below the notes from the Elder's Prayer this past Sunday.

Heavenly Father,

Hallowed be your name.

Thank you for shining your light on our darkened world and declaring joy to us.

Our Triune God, thank you for opening our eyes to comprehend the divinity of our Lord Jesus Christ. May every area of our lives reflect the Scriptural truth that we believed in and our submission to the Lordship and headship of Jesus Christ.

Father, even as we attempt to exhort one another through the Scriptural songs, the truths from your word convicts us of our sins. We become deeply aware of our unworthiness, our unholy status and our defilement.

It is no exaggeration Father, that our sins are as brilliant red as scarlet and deep red like crimson. We are ashamed and desperate. Please forgive our hypocritical lives, cleanse us and make us as white as snow and pale as the wool.

As the 21st century generation, our hearts wander and become quickly prone to self-righteousness while we are constantly discontent with your heavenly spiritual blessings and chase after the wind. Please grant us understanding and help us to increase in the knowledge of Lord Jesus Christ.

As we are being warned from our current study of Hebrews, please help us to not harden our hearts, instead, hear your voice and enter into the rest and remain in it by your abundant grace.

Please remove every ounce of unbelief and pride from us. Please help us to pay much closer attention to the gospel we first heard and what is being taught faithfully week after week from your Holy Scriptures.

Please help us as members of Summit Woods Baptist Church to faithfully encourage one another day after day until you come or call us home.

Please help us to be men and women of Psalm 1. Holy Spirit of the Living God, please transform our hearts to delight in your word, meditate on it day and night and yield fruits every time you look for fruit in us.

Please bless our intake of Scriptures to be meaningful, transformative and not rushed. With our natural inclination to find short cuts to glory, we can’t do this without your help. Please help us.

Please accept our tithes and offerings, this morning.

We pray this in the name our Lord Jesus Christ, Amen.
