Elder's Prayer

Please find below the notes from the Elder's Prayer this past Sunday.

Lord we gather before you today as sinners saved by grace

Each one of us at one time in our lives were dead in our trespasses and sins,

We each walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air-the one who is our enemy, the devil

We too all formerly lived in the lusts of our flesh, indulging the desires of the flesh and of the mind-we were by nature children of wrath

But You O Lord, being rich in mercy, because of Your great love with which You loved us-even when we were dead in our transgressions, made us alive together with Christ (it is by grace we have been saved),

You raised us up with Christ, and seated us with Him in the heavenly places so that in the ages to come You might show the surpassing riches of Your grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.

For by grace we have been saved through faith; and that not of ourselves, it is your gift to us, O Lord;

And it is certainly not as a result of our works-so that none of us may boast.

May we always remember that we are Your workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which You prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them.

Hear our prayer today, O Lord-help us to walk in the good works you have prepared for us

May our lives be increasingly transformed and conformed to the image of your Son-help us to live according to His grace

Help us to be gracious to those whom you put in our lives that up to this point may not know you as Lord and Savior

Remind us that we too once walked in the flesh and it is only by your grace that we no longer do so-may we demonstrate your mercy toward others just as you are merciful to us

Help us, by your Spirit, at all times to seek to serve you and to serve others-and not ourselves-use us as your instruments for your good purposes-we pray in Christ’s name
