Elder's Prayer

Please find below the notes from the Elder's Prayer this past Sunday.

I have really come to appreciate the time and effort that Dawson and the music team put into the selection of the songs we sing. They are careful to assure that they are scripturally accurate and helpful to our souls

The first song we sang today, God is for Us, is one that I dearly love and brings joy to my heart when I hear it. We CAN sing with joy, because our God is FOR us!

Paul talks about this to fellow Believers in the book of Romans, chapter 8

Rom 8:31-35

In vs 31, he says, “What then shall we say to these things? If God [is] for us, who [is] against us?”

In vs 32, he says, “He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him over for us all, how will He not also with Him freely give us all things?

            Let me add....

-if God is for us, who is against us?

He goes on to say in vs 33, “Who will bring charges against God's elect? God is the one who justifies”;

            Again....

-if God is for us, who is againt us?

In vs 34 Paul writes, “who is the one who condemns?

            And again....

-if God is for us, who is against us?

He goes on to say, “Christ Jesus is He who died, but rather, was raised, who is at the right hand of God, who also intercedes for us”

            And again....

-if God is for us, who is against us?

Finally in vs 35 he says, “Who will separate us from the love of Christ? [Will] tribulation, or trouble, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword?

Once more, say it with me....if God is for us, who is against us?

Praise be to God!

Prayer:

Lord, thank You for Your word that makes Your love for us so clear

We praise You that You took the initiative to reach out to us and bring us to yourself, not because of anything worthy in us, but, because of Your kindness and because it was Your good pleasure to do so

You gave Your most precious posession to pay the penalty we could never pay, and then You raised Him up from the dead

Having done that, we know that You will graciously give us all that we need

No one can condemn us and nothing can separate us from Your love

For this we humbly praise You and thank You

In the name of Christ our Savior
