Important Camp Information:

 

    1. Why we are going to Ascend Camp?  Top-notch teaching from Rick Holland, Adam Bueltel, and more. We also are looking forward to extended time for small group discussion.
    2. Meet at SWBC at 9:00 AM on Saturday, June 22. We will pack up and leave at 9:30 AM sharp!
    3. We tentatively anticipate returning to SWBC between 6-7 PM on Wednesday, June 26. Lunch will be provided prior to departing camp. We plan only to stop for a restroom/snack break once on the way home. We will post any changes to that time frame on Facebook and send a REMIND text when we reach Columbia, MO (2 hours outside of KC).
    4. Each student will need a sack lunch (including a drink) packed in disposable containers/baggies for Saturday. No coolers will be provided, please consider as you pack lunch. Bottles of water will be provided (at room temperature) at lunch. NOTE: No cans are allowed on the bus, only bottles that have a screw top lid.
    5. Click for the full Packing List: If only you can carry it, you can bring it. Also, I imagine having a small flashlight might come in handy for some of the night games. But please don't forget that reusable water bottle!
    6. Since your student will not have their phones with them, please ask for the phone numbers for the SWBC leaders attending camp. Email gsmleadership@swbcls.org. 
    7. If you do not receive GSM REMIND texts, please sign up by texting @swbcgsm to 81010. Save the reply number to your contacts as 'GSM Reminders' for easy future reference. 
    8. SWBC leaders will post camp pictures/updates on Facebook as time and wi-fi coverage allows. Be ready to extend grace if your kid isn’t in a picture. Don’t expect to see your kid’s face – be thankful when it happens!
    9. Parents of students who regularly take medication, please talk with Heather Ruisinger ASAP. Also, pack any/all medicine in a labeled Ziploc bag and include administration instructions and schedule inside the bag.
    10. The camp will have at least one gluten-free option at every meal. The kitchen is willing to store any meals a student desires to bring.
    11. Expectations for students: 
      • Students must remain with an SWBC leader at all times during camp.
      • Students must be in groups of no less than three; pairing up is never acceptable.
      • These expectations will be communicated at camp.
      • Failure to adhere to these rules will result in punitive consequences and the student being sent home at the parents’ expense.  
      • Students are also expected to participate in camp games, activities, and events.

Ascend Camp Info: We encourage students to become familiar with any new songs they may not know. Also, students should be prepared to participate well on their camp team. We will share the team color and name as we get closer to camp week!
