Holy God, we gather this Sunday morning as people who have been redeemed by the blood of your Holy Son to join the heavenly host in unceasing praise. We lift our eyes and our hearts from the distractions of this world to behold your majesty, entering your presence with awe as we worship the One who sits upon the throne.

Almighty God, who is seated on the throne in heaven, we worship you as the Holy of Holies, Eternal God, Creator and Sustainer of life. Along with the living creatures and the elders, we bow down to declare that you alone are worthy to receive glory, honor, and power, for you created all things and we exist by your sovereign will. Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God Almighty, who was and is and is to come.

We praise you Son of God, Son of Man, Emmanuel, the Lion of Judah, the slain Lamb, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Thank you for your holy and perfect sacrifice, redemption from sin’s mastery over us and condemnation. You have purchased us with your blood even though we were, we are and we will ever be unworthy of your grace, lovingkindness and tender mercies. Though at this moment, we don’t see and hear the roar of worship of the heavenly beings and our brothers and sisters from every tribe, tongue, and nation, we look forward to that day when we can worship you prostrate on the ground for you alone are worthy of all of our praises and worship. You are supremely worthy.

From being enemies of God, darkened in our hearts, condemned to eternal destruction to now being the children of God, enlightened and indwelt by the Holy Spirit who is the guarantee of our eternal inheritance, a kingdom and priests to our God. From being a people who will instantly perish even now in your holy presence to beholding your HOLY FACE and continue living another moment to keep praising you in our glorious bodies then…this was and is and will forever be your doing and it is marvelous in our eyes.

Father, by your grace we know that there is nothing compared to the glory that is to be revealed. We surrender our lives, disappointments and ails of this fallen world into and unto your hands. We long for that day when all will be made right. Please keep us blameless and above reproach till the end.

To Him who alone sits on the throne and to the Lamb be blessing, honor, glory, and power forever. Amen.

• According to vs. 2, was the contribution mandatory or forced? What is the heart condition specified in the New Testament for giving. 2 Corinthians 9:7.
• Why did God name the place above the Ark of the Testimony (where the Ten commandments were placed) the ‘Mercy Seat? What is the correlation between the two.
• How does God dwell (tabernacle) among us now. See John 1:14, 1 Corinthians 3:16, 1 Corinthians 3:16.

 As we have just affirmed in song, we also proclaim in prayer: your perfection is eternal and your majesty is infinite. All creation exists for your glory, and our worship belongs to you alone.  With the Psalmist, we affirm that Not to us, O Lord, not to us, But to Your name give glory Because of Your lovingkindness, because of Your truth.  

We praise you for your sustaining care over all creation. You have provided our daily bread and given every good gift, and this past week has borne testimony to this in countless ways. All earthly provision and abundance in life come from your gracious hand, and point us away from our self-sufficiency and to your exalted worthiness. 

We exalt you for your revelation to us in Christ, through your Word. We were lost, blind, and dead, always opposed in our will and our nature to your Truth, and you sent Christ into this world to open our eyes, to show us his light, to grant us spiritual life, and to draw our wills to desire you. Because of Christ’s finished work of bearing the infinite penalty of our sin upon himself, you have justified us, and adopted us, so that with the heavenly host we proclaim that “Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power and riches and wisdom and might and honor and glory and blessing.” 

We thank you that in your provision of salvation, you do not restrict your redemption to one people, to one place, or to one time. Your Gospel extends to every people, every language, and every nation, so that “Whoever will call on the name of the Lord will be saved.” We marvel at your glory magnified in your command given us to proclaim your worship in all the world, so that all peoples might praise you through the Gospel. With all your redeemed in every time and in every place, we praise you that we are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God’s own possession, so that we may proclaim the excellencies of Him who has called us out of darkness into His marvelous light. 

And you do not only provide for us, reveal yourself to us, and save us.  You rule the world in righteousness and justice, and your providence brings your worship to our lips in the working out of your purposes. Your righteous government over kingdoms, over your church, and our individual lives calls us to praise you and trust you in your glorious works that we see and fully understand, as well as in your purposes which are obscured, inscrutable, and uncomfortable to us.    

Today and every day, grant that our hearts, our families, and all nations may magnify your holy name. Let every blessing received become praise offered. Hasten the spread of the worship of Christ to the ends of the earth. Let all who seek You rejoice and be glad in You; Let those who love Your salvation say continually, “The Lord be magnified!”

We rejoice that you are the Creator of heaven and earth, and you are King over all your creation. There is nothing beyond the reach of your power, your throne is established from everlasting to everlasting, and you do according to your will in the host of heaven and among the inhabitants of earth, and no one can ward off your hand or say to you, “What have you done?” Every president, king, and dictator, every circumstance, every word, and every breath is ruled by your sovereign providence, and your decrees are holy, wise, and perfect in their eternal purpose and in their effective accomplishment. 

We confess that we desire our way, our wisdom, and our will above yours. In our inability, we resent your power and your providence, and we exalt our frail autonomy. Forgive us for trusting ourselves rather than resting in and submitting to you.  

In Christ, we ask that we would come you as burdened sinners. Let us know the crushing weight of our guilt, let us experience the exhaustion of pursuing our own ways, let us feel the inconsolable frustration of lives filled with covetousness, fear, and self-will, so that we would delight in the truth that your yoke is easy and your burden is light. In prosperity or poverty, in persecution or acceptance, in delight or sorrow, in youth and in advanced age, grant us the conviction that you are good, and all that you do is right as you accomplish your perfect purpose for your glory.  

Glorify your mighty name in all the earth, Sovereign God. Save sinners, sanctify the saints, build your church, destroy the works of the devil, and magnify your mighty name among us, in our families, our workplaces, and our neighborhoods. May your will be done on earth, as it is in heaven. As we engage in fellowship together, as we pray together, as we sing together, as together we give back to you from that which you have provided us, as we sit together and hear your Word proclaimed to us, bring us to grasp our duty and our privilege of worshiping you. Hasten that day, Lord, when every knee will bow and every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to your glory, and we will at last be perfectly embodied and equipped in the New Heaven and Earth to exalt you as you are worthy.

In our desires, we confess that we often lose sight of Christ, who is our greatest good and the anchor of our hope.   

Christ is the highest and most precious value for sinners: fully God, and fully man, he took upon himself your infinite judgment and rose from the dead on the third day so that we may rest in the assurance of Hebrews 7:25 that He is able also to save forever those who draw near to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them. 

Because of his saving work, Christ is of priceless value to those who believe. When guilt weighs heavily on us, we find priceless rest in the truth that Therefore there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. 

When our faith is weak, assurance fails, and we despair, we rejoice in the inestimable value of Christ’s assurance that My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me; and I give eternal life to them, and they will never perish; and no one will snatch them out of My hand. My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father’s hand. 

In every present trial or the prospect of difficulties to come, we hold to the value of Christ in Romans 8:38-39, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. 

In the joys of life, we prize Christ. In him, you richly supply us with all things to enjoy, and we exult that in Christ we are reconciled to you and have peace through the blood of his cross. 

And as we look to the future, we rejoice that to live is Christ, and to die is gain, and we have the hope and comfort of the truth in 1 Thessalonians 4 that the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first.  Then we who are alive and remain will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we shall always be with the Lord.    

All our hope is in Jesus, and we glory in what the cross has done, Father. In our adoration and worship now and our lives this week, we ask that you would draw our eyes to Christ that we might daily proclaim Christ’s unsurpassable value. Amen

We are astray of the glorious purpose for which you created us, we are corrupted in our nature and our desires: we do not love you, we do not want you, we do not pursue you—and could we genuinely want to approach you, we would not be able to, for how can mortal, finite, corrupted, and cast out humanity bridge the infinite gulf to lay hold of your being?  

Above all, we are condemned by your perfect justice. With our every breath and every desire, we affirm Adam and Eve’s original rebellion, we declare that your righteous standards have no hold on us, and we testify that your holy declaration of judgment on us is fully warranted to its utmost, eternal extent. 

And yet you have not left us to receive that which we are due. In your mercy, and out of your eternal grace, you provided Christ Jesus. In his humanity he lived the perfect life of obedience that we could not live, and in his innocent death he bore your infinite judgment on himself.  

We rejoice today for this good news—this Gospel. We celebrate that you have called us to turn from death to embrace life, and that in your sovereign power you enable us to do what you we cannot do ourselves: turn from self and sin and rest by faith in Christ. We marvel, holy Father, that in Christ, you not only save us, but you make us your children and heirs of your heavenly glory.  

We exult not only for how the Gospel takes away our condemnation and brings us into relationship with you, but we rejoice in your purpose to use us to spread the news of that Gospel to our families, friends, coworkers, acquaintances, and total strangers—here in Lee’s Summit and beyond.  

As we have just sung, there is a task unfinished. As long as your mercy holds back the flood of your judgment, convict us that we have work to do—preaching the Gospel to our own hearts and to others, pointing to Christ, proclaiming your perfect reconciliation, and growing in obedience and rest in Christ in life, in trials, in hope. 

What you have begun, you will finish for your glory. Stir us up today to hear the Gospel, to obey the Gospel, and to labor faithfully in what your Gospel calls us to do. This we ask in eager anticipation, knowing that this is your will for us and in us.
