In Psalm 139, David helps us to meditate on the grandeur, mercy, and wisdom of God. God's active and personal knowledge of His own should bring about great confidence and comfort in the midst of our wavering and unstable lives. Consider God, flee from insular thoughts that would seek to keep us captive; run to the grandeur of God.

Our sermon series, Living in Light of God: A Majestic View of the Almighty, was foundational to the creation of this song; particularly the sermon, Living in Light of God's Knowledge, which helps us to see how we are to live in light of the truth of God's grandeur in Psalm 139:1-6.

Verse 1
No land or sky
Where we can hide
No corner of our minds
That God would fail
To see unveiled
All that He seeks, He finds

Verse 2
What private plot
What inner thought
Is hidden from His sight?
What distant star
Is out too far
For Him to know its light?

Chorus 1
Behold the grandeur of our God
No mind could comprehend
He knows us best and loves us yet
His glory knows no end

Verse 3
What suffering
What struggle deep
Is He yet unaware?
Our blinding pain
Our sinful stains
Does not our Father care?

Chorus 2
Behold the mercy of our God
Despite our discontent
We cannot slip from His good grip
His glory knows no end
The presence of our God
Reveals His grand extent
Beyond the stars, within our hearts
His glory knows no end

Verse 4
Such knowledge is
Too much for us
Too wonderful to grasp!
All glory be
To Him who sees
The future from the past!
