The Book of Hebrews square

Prepare your heart for the Sermon by looking through these suggestions that will assist you in making the most of our time together hearing God's Word.

You will find suggestions for thinking more critically through the passage, meditating more intently on the text, and prayerfully seeking wisdom to deepen your understanding of the passage to be preached this Sunday.

Carefully Think

  • Read Hebrews 13:22-25. How is this passage connected with vv. 20-21? What are the mandates in this passage?
  • How do the mandates in this passage explain the whole letter? How are the descriptions of the letter here fitting for what we’ve seen in Heb.?
  • Why do you think the instruction in v. 23 is included?
  • What is unique about the greeting in v. 24?
  • What role does grace play in this letter as a whole? Where has grace been mentioned in the immediate context? Why do you think he concludes the letter with grace?

Prayerfully Meditate

  • Consider these final exhortations in light of the whole letter. How are they fitting?
  • How are these exhortations helpful for you?
  • Consider the description “briefly” in v. 22. How does this instruct you concerning our spiritual attention span?
