Prepare your heart for our Sunday Morning Gathering by looking through these suggestions that will assist you in making the most of our time together.
You will find tangible suggestions for putting scripture to action in your personal life and in our corporate body, links to the songs we will sing, and lyrics for you to prepare for our corporate singing.
Please see the Preparing for the Sermon post for suggestions in thinking more critically through the passage, meditating more intently on the text, and prayerfully seeking wisdom to deepen your understanding of the passage to be preached this Sunday.
Intentionally Act
- Read through the following passages and for each passage using one or two words list what kind of affections accompany expressions of worship:
- Psalm 46:10; 33:8
- Isaiah 8:13; Psalm 5:7
- Psalm 51:17; Isaiah 57:15
- Psalm 42:1; 73:25-26
- Psalm 30:11-12
- Psalm 42:5; 130:5
- Consider how your emotions compare to the above list of affections. What are areas you could pursue growth? What would that pursuit look like?
- Does your definition of worship match God’s? Consider ways they may differ. Seek to correct your thinking and align your belief with the Word of God.
- What keeps your heart and emotions from engaging in worship? Why?
- In what ways do you restrict your worship to Sunday or Church? How can you seek to live a life of worship this week?
- Click the links below to find the lyrics and recordings of the songs planned for our gathering this Sunday; practice the songs, study the lyrics and sing together
- Pray for those leading our corporate gathering this week and for the Holy Spirit’s work as the Word of God is further explained and applied: Dawson Bryant: music; Ben Gardner: elder prayer & scripture reading; Bret Capranica: teaching.
