2 Thessalonians Sermon Image Square

Prepare your heart for our Sunday Morning Gathering by looking through these suggestions that will assist you in making the most of our time together.

You will find tangible suggestions for putting scripture to action in your personal life and in our corporate body, links to the songs we will sing, and lyrics for you to prepare for our corporate singing.

Please see the Preparing for the Sermon post for suggestions in thinking more critically through the passage, meditating more intently on the text, and prayerfully seeking wisdom to deepen your understanding of the passage to be preached this Sunday.

Intentionally Act

  • Read 2 Thessalonians 1:1-2 again. Pray through these verses for our body as a whole to receive these words with hearts tender for receiving this letter.
  • Examine the idea of grace as you understand and live it out today as a believer. Does this bring peace in your life with God, the body of Christ, and those around you? If not, why not? If so, how can you help others cultivate peace with God and others?
  • Pray that we can as a body grow in clarity in our study of eschatology (study of the end times).
  • Pray that our knowledge would not puff up, but would be transformative to our hearts, increasing our desire and ability to deny ourselves and bring light into a dark world with the warming truth in love to cold, hardened hearts and that God would give new life to those who don't believe and maturity to those who do believe.
  • Click the links below to find the lyrics and recordings of the songs planned for our gathering this Sunday; practice the songs, study the lyrics and sing together.
  • Pray for those leading our corporate gathering this week and for the Holy Spirit’s work as the Word of God is further explained and applied: Dawson Bryant: music; Terry Engling: Elders' prayer & scripture reading; Bret Capranica: teaching.
