1 Thessalonians square

Prepare your heart for our Sunday Morning Gathering by looking through these suggestions that will assist you in making the most of our time together.

You will find tangible suggestions for putting scripture to action in your personal life and in our corporate body, links to the songs we will sing, and lyrics for you to prepare for our corporate singing.

Please see the Preparing for the Sermon post for suggestions in thinking more critically through the passage, meditating more intently on the text, and prayerfully seeking wisdom to deepen your understanding of the passage to be preached this Sunday.

Intentionally Act

  • Read 1 Thessalonians 1:4-6
  • How does the presence of faith, love, and hope then impact ones assurance of their salvation?
  • How do verse 5 and 6 color the way you view discipleship?
  • Who’s faithfulness can you imitate as they follow Christ? How can you reach out to them to initiate a discipling relationship along those lines?
  • How can you apply this passage unto evangelism? How does it encourage evangelism in your life?
  • How is God’s choice of his people a comfort to you?
  • In light of this passage, pray thanking God for his choosing of his people. Pray for your spiritual leaders and elders that they would have a faithfulness worthy of imitation and that the gospel would be furthered and validated by their lives. Pray asking God that the gospel would move in power, the Holy Spirit, and with full conviction in the lives of nonbelievers in and around your life.
  • Click the links below to find the lyrics and recordings of the songs planned for our gathering this Sunday; practice the songs, study the lyrics and sing together.
  • Pray for those leading our corporate gathering this week and for the Holy Spirit’s work as the Word of God is further explained and applied: Dawson Bryant: music; Mark Krystyniak: Elders' prayer & scripture reading; Bret Capranica: teaching.
