Prepare your heart for our Sunday Morning Gathering by looking through these suggestions that will assist you in making the most of our time together.
You will find tangible suggestions for putting scripture to action in your personal life and in our corporate body, links to the songs we will sing, and lyrics for you to prepare for our corporate singing.
Critically Think
- Read the following passages: Matthew 5:17-18; Luke 24:25-27, 44-48; and John 5:46. What do these verses say Scripture speaks about? How much Scripture speaks about these things?
- Read Hebrews 1:1-2. Through whom has God spoken to us? When and how has He spoken?
- Read 2 Timothy 3:14-17. How much Scripture is God-breathed? How much Scripture is profitable? What does Scripture enable in verse 15? What is Scripture's purpose in verse 17?
- Read 2 Peter 1:19-21. Who gives the prophecies in Scripture according to verse 21?
Prayerfully Meditate
- What do these verses tell us about the unity of Scripture's....Message? Purpose? Authorship?
- How is Scripture diverse within such unity in its...Authors? Sections? Languages? Styles?
- What would you say are the key passages of the Bible? What are some main texts that many other passages interact with, and which run through the whole of Scripture? (Consider, for instance, Genesis 3, Deuteronomy 30, Psalm 110, or Isaiah 53), Who wrote those passages, and how do they display Scripture's supernatural unity?
- How does the unity of Scripture relate to its other attributes, such as...Inspiration? Clarity? Authority? Sufficiency?
Intentionally Act
- How does the Bible's unity shape your reading of it? In what ways should it affect your reading of both the Old Testament and New Testament?
- What does your current intake of Scripture look like? Are there parts you avoid or are unfamiliar with? What is a step you can take to embrace the full, united counsel of Scripture in 2026?
- What have you learned and been helped by most in this year's sermon series on A High View of Scripture? How has your view of Scripture been lifted higher this year?
