Critically Think
- Read 2 Peter 1:3-11. Who was this originally written to? See vs. 1-2 as needed.
- What has been given to believers? From whom were these given?
- List what believers are instructed to pursue.
- How pervasive is God’s provision for believers?
- What have believers escaped?
- How does this passage speak to the assurance of salvation?
- List the promises given or referred to.
Prayerfully Meditate
- Why are believers instructed to pursue what is listed in vs. 5-7?
- What are the implications, expressed or implied, from vs. 8-11 if the qualities are not pursued?
- How could discouragement in a believer’s life possibly be counseled from this passage?
- How does this passage speak to disobedience or doubts of assurance?
- In what manner are we to “make certain about His calling and choosing” us? How does that practically look in your life now?
Intentionally Act
- Reread 2 Peter 1:3-11
- How does your life reflect belief specifically in the content of vs. 3?
- In what way does this passage speak to the sovereignty of God? To what extent does it speak to the responsibility of human decision and accountability?
- Confess and repent of any sin that came to light during the study of this passage.
