Carefully Think

  • What would you think are the biblical marks that define who is a part of the church of Jesus Christ?
  • Where would you go in the Bible to answer the question above?
  • How would you describe to a non-Christian what it means to be converted to Christ? How would someone know that they are "converted?"
  • Read Acts 2:42-47. How did people identify themselves as the church in this passage?
  • Read 1 Corinthians 10:16-17 - how does this passage picture who is a part of the church? Read 1 Corinthians 11:17-34. What was the Corithian church saying about themselves as a group when they took the Lord's Supper.
  • Read Matthew 18:15-20. Who comprises the church in this passage? How do you know? Why would the church need to be told about and potentiall treat a wayward member as if they were a non-Christian? What is to happen with the wayward member? What does that say about who makes up the church?

Intentionally Act

  • Pray for non-Christians to be convicted of their need of Christ this Sunday. Pray that Christians will be fruitful in their application of the intent of this passage.
  • Pray for those who will be leading the service this week: Dawson Bryant, music; Brandon Ferguson, Elders' prayer and Scripture reading; Bret Capranica, teaching.
  • Listen to the music we will be singing on Sunday; consider the lyrics and what they say about Christ that should encourage our worship of Him and how we follow Him.
