Book of Revelation Sermon Title 1
Prepare your heart for our Sunday Morning Gathering by looking through these suggestions that will assist you in making the most of our time together.

You will find tangible suggestions for putting scripture to action in your personal life and in our corporate body, links to the songs we will sing, and lyrics for you to prepare for our corporate singing.

Critically Think

  • Read Revelation 20 and Revelation 21 to review the context for the verses this week.
  • Read Revelation 21:1-5. How do these verses connect to Revelation 20? (v11)
  • When you read the words, “new heaven, new earth, and sea” what Biblical themes do you think of?
  • When you read verse 3, what storylines do you recall from Scripture? Focus on the words “tabernacle” and “dwell”.
  • After reading Revelation 21:4, read through Genesis 3-5, and also Genesis 23:1-2. How long has death, pain, mourning, and tears been a part of creation?
  • Read Revelation 1, who is faithful and true? What is Revelation 21:5 calling faithful and true?

Prayerfully Meditate

  • Why are death, pain, mourning and sin existing today? When did they start? How did that affect our relationship with God? (Read Genesis 1-6 if you need help thinking through this).
  • How does the relationship between sin and death correlate to God dwelling among his people?
  • How is God’s word related to Jesus Christ? How does this truth help us know in working out our salvation (Philippians 2:12-13, John 14:9-11)
  • Does this passage encourage you to be faithful to Christ now?

Intentionally Act

  • If you do not find hope and encouragement in God dwelling among men, why not, examine why it does not, where does your hope and encouragement lie?
  • Imagine the joy in the effects of sin gone from all creation. Let this joy cultivate a heart to kill sin now more fervently to pursue righteousness. Begin thinking of sin that needs to be removed from your life, and how to fill that with truth and righteousness.
