Book of Revelation Sermon Title 1
Prepare your heart for our Sunday Morning Gathering by looking through these suggestions that will assist you in making the most of our time together.

You will find tangible suggestions for putting scripture to action in your personal life and in our corporate body, links to the songs we will sing, and lyrics for you to prepare for our corporate singing.

Critically Think

  • Read Revelation 20:1-6.
  • Can we identify this angel that comes down? List the actions and attributes of this angel.
  • Where else have we seen a key to the abyss in Revelation? Who had the key and how did they obtain it?
  • What is the purpose in the angel binding the dragon found in verse 3? What does this imply about what was going on before the dragon is bound?
  • How long will the dragon be bound?
  • What activity do those who sit on the thrones participate in?
  • In verse 4 who are those who are beheaded?
  • Remind yourself, who is the dragon? Use scripture references to support your answer.
  • Read Revelation 20:14 and 1 Corinthians 15:26. What is the last enemy of God’s people.

Prayerfully Meditate

  • Have we seen a picture of “sealing” or securing anything similar to the abyss in the Old Testament or the New Testament? List some examples with scripture references.
  • Read Daniel 7:9. How do the thrones in Daniel differ from the thrones in verse 4 of our passage? How are they similar.
  • Read Matthew 19:28 and Acts 3:21. Reread verse 4 of our passage. What is the term “regeneration” or “restoration” in these texts referring to?
  • Reread verse 5 along with John 5:29. Describe the difference between the first and second resurrection.
  • Read Hebrews 11:35. How is the first resurrection described?
  • Reread verse 6. Read Revelation 14:13 as well. Describe the wonderful encouragement seen in Revelation 14 for those who “…die in the Lord from now on.”

Intentionally Act

  • Reread our passage. What is most encouraging to you about this passage considering your present “season of life”?
  • How does Jesus’ power over Satan compel you to fight sin this week?
  • How does Jesus’ omnipotence and eminent victory empower a boldness in missions?
  • What do you fear? List several out. How does God’s necessary victory help you battle these fears?
  • Click the links below to find the lyrics and recordings of the songs planned for our gathering this Sunday; learn the songs, study the lyrics and sing them with others.
  • Pray for those leading our corporate gathering this week and for the Holy Spirit’s work as the Word of God is further explained and applied: Colten Honigman: music; Mark Krystyniak: elder prayer & scripture reading; Bret Capranica: teaching.
