Prepare your heart for our Sunday Morning Gathering by looking through these suggestions that will assist you in making the most of our time together.
You will find tangible suggestions for putting scripture to action in your personal life and in our corporate body, links to the songs we will sing, and lyrics for you to prepare for our corporate singing.
Critically Think
- Briefly read Revelation 18:9-24 and then read Revelation 19:1-6. Who are the two groups of people and what are their responses to the fall of Babylon?
- Briefly read the rest of Revelation 19. What event is about to happen in the context of 19:1-6?
- What phrase or phrases are repeated in Revelation 19:1-6?
- List the groups of people praising the Lord (Hallelujah) in the text.
- What are the reasons the text gives for these people to be praising the Lord (Hallelujah)?
- How does verse 6 describe what John heard?
- Read Psalm 104:35. What is the reason for praising the Lord (Hallelujah) and how does it relate to our text in Revelation?
Prayerfully Meditate
- As we contemplate heaven’s rejoicing over the destruction of Babylon, how can this bring us encouragement as we observe our culture spiraling deeper and deeper into sin around us? List several examples.
- One reason the text gives for praising the Lord is because God “has avenged the blood of His bond-servants”. How can we draw comfort and peace knowing God will avenge any wrongs done to His children? List several examples.
- Why should it cause us to burst out in praise thinking about Christ’s eventual and certain reign as heaven does in verse 6? What would this praise practically look like in your life? List several examples.
Intentionally Act
- How do you react when you are wronged against? How can you give that over to God and allow Him to be the one to right the wrongs done against you?
- How can you join the heavenly choir and intentionally praise the Lord (Hallelujah) today in your thoughts, words, and actions?
- What anxious, frustrated, or despairing thoughts can you put off and replace with thoughts of Christs returning and reigning?
