Prepare your heart for our Sunday Morning Gathering by looking through these suggestions that will assist you in making the most of our time together.
You will find tangible suggestions for putting scripture to action in your personal life and in our corporate body, links to the songs we will sing, and lyrics for you to prepare for our corporate singing.
Critically Think
- Read Revelation 16 for context and review to prepare for this Sunday.
- Read carefully through Revelation 17:1-6.
- Examining Revelation 16 and 17 together, which angel is this and what is he trying to show John?
- What is the relationship between the woman and the beast? Do we know who the beast is? Do we know who the woman is?
- How are the beast and the woman portrayed in relation to Jesus according to their descriptions?
Prayerfully Meditate
- The vision of the woman and the beast are adorned in color. Why are they represented in these colors? How does that contrast with Christ? Has he worn these colors? What colors will he be wearing when he comes in the next few chapters?
- What power do the woman and the beast have over the earth?
- Why is there a dual description of the saints in this passage? What does this indicate about the saints?
- How does this help shape our view of God and His judgments poured out on the earth?
- How should we view world systems in light of this passage and the systems we live in now? Who is in control from the viewpoint of verses 1-6? Who is in control from the viewpoint of ALL of Scripture?
Intentionally Act
- Summarize this passage, what is the main point?
- Why are we commanded to submit to world systems? Cultivate an attitude of submission to the government that walks in step with what is rendered to them and what is rendered to God.
- Think through how you can desire to be more faithful to God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ in light of this passage and recognizing how God allowed the woman to be drunk with the blood of the saints.
