Sermon Text for Sunday: Revelation 13:11-18
Critically Think
- Revelation 11:13-18.
- What is the meaning of the phrases, “two horns like a lamb” and “spoke like a dragon?
- Who is the second beast and the first beast?
- What is the purpose of the second beast?
- What does the second beast order people to do in verse 16? Is anyone exempt from the command?
- What is the purpose of the mark of the beast?
- What ways of God does Satan try to deceitfully counterfeit in Revelation 13?
Prayerfully Meditate
- What ways does Satan deceive today in attempt to appear like God? Consider the ways he has deceived you with temptation and sin?
- What are the lies that Satan sells to the world around you?
- What does this passage teach about the importance of remaining faithful to God in the face of deception and persecution?
- How can you guard yourself against deceptive teachings? (Read 1 John 4:1-4)
- What steps can believers take to live righteously in a world that increasingly opposes godly values? (Read Eph. 6:10-18)
Intentionally Act
- Is there anything you can do to prepare yourself to stand against greater persecution in the future? (Read Deut. 13:1-4)
- How can a church guard against false teaching and prepare its members for trials and tribulations?
- Remind yourself that God is sovereign and always in control no matter what you see with your eyes or hear with your ears. Seek out a passage of scripture that speaks to sovereignty of God to memorize this week.
- How are you protecting those around you (children, family, friends, close church members) from the deceitfulness of sin?
