Sermon Text for Sunday: Revelation 12:7-12
Critically Think
- Read Revelation 12:7-12.
- Who is the angel named Michael? Review these verses.
- Identify who exactly the dragon is based on verse 9. Who is the "serpent of old"?
- What was the activity of the dragon before he was thrown down (verse 10)? What changes after he has thrown down (verse 11)?
- What is the result of the dragon and his angels being thrown down to earth in verses 10-11?
- What are the heavens doing in verse 12? How does that contrast with the activity on earth?
Prayerfully Meditate
- How do verses 7-12 relate to the first six verses in Chapter 12?
- What does it imply to describe the dragon as the "serpent of old"?
- Is there a timing that can be discerned of when this battle takes place?
- What hope do we have that Micheal and his angels can defeat the dragon and his angels?
Intentionally Act
- We have an accuser now - the same "serpent of old". His tools are deception and accusation. How can we best fight this adversary now?
- The dragon is not the exact opposite of God, as in eastern religions. God is more. Pray that having the Holy Spirit of God in us as believers is more than enough to fight off the temptations of the devil and we respond in faith and not in sin.
- Look to encourage and exhort others in our body with these truths who are struggling in sin and faith; gently, patiently, and bearing with their burdens.

- Pray for those leading our corporate gathering this week and for the Holy Spirit’s work as the Word of God is further explained and applied: Dawson Bryant: music; Brett Harris: elder prayer & scripture reading; Bret Capranica: teaching.
