Sermon Text for Sunday: Revelation 10:1-11
Critically Think
- Read Revelation 9:13-10:1-11 to prepare for this Sunday’s sermon. Re-read Revelation 10:1-11 to focus on the text that will be preached this Sunday.
- What event are we still in the middle of that starts in Revelation 9:13?
- What does the description of this angel reveal about his identity?
- In verse 6, who is the angel swearing by?
- What is the angel swearing about in verses 6-7?
- Who commands John to take and eat the “little book”?
- Can you identify what the “little book” is?
- What are the results after John eats the “little book” in verses 10-11?
Prayerfully Meditate
- What does verse 14 reveal to us about what we have in Scripture as compared to what is revealed to the prophets and apostles?
- How much effort should we give to attempting to determine what God has not revealed in Scripture but was revealed to John (or other prophets and apostles)?
- Why is this passage regarding this “little book” in the middle of the 6th trumpet?
- What attributes of God do we see on display in this passage?
Intentionally Act
- Can you summarize this passage in your own words in 24 words or less?
- Prayerfully meditate on this passage and your study to reveal how we should biblically respond to this passage.
- Consider how the judgments of God on sin motivate you: to walk in faith, to repent and seek reconciliation with God and our brothers and sisters in Christ, to walk by faith and not by sight, to share your faith with others, to spread the gospel to the nations?
