Prepare your heart for our Sunday Morning Gathering by looking through these suggestions that will assist you in making the most of our time together.
You will find tangible suggestions for putting scripture to action in your personal life and in our corporate body, links to the songs we will sing, and lyrics for you to prepare for our corporate singing.
Critically Think
- Read John 2:12-17.
- Where does Jesus travel to in v. 12? Who is He with?
- Where does Jesus travel to next?
- What event is taking place soon, according to v. 13?
- What is taking place in the temple?
- List the actions Jesus takes in v. 15.
- What does Jesus tell those who are selling doves?
- How do the disciples respond to Jesus’ actions?
Prayerfully Meditate
- Read Psalm 69:9. How do the disciples interpret this verse in the context of what Jesus is doing in the temple?
- In Matthew 21:12-13, Mark 11:15-17, and Luke 19:45-46, another temple cleansing is mentioned. What are some similarities or differences between the temple cleansing mentioned in those verses, and the one mentioned in John 2?
- Why is Jesus upset with the money changers and those who were selling livestock?
- What does Jesus care the most about in this passage?
Intentionally Act
- What should a proper zeal for the Lord look like in your life?
- In what ways do you idolize the things of this world over the serving God?
- How can you help those around you, whether in the church or in your family, grow in their zeal for the Lord?
- Click the links below to find the lyrics and recordings of the songs planned for our gathering this Sunday; learn the songs, study the lyrics and sing them with others.
