Prepare your heart for our Sunday Morning Gathering by looking through these suggestions that will assist you in making the most of our time together.

You will find tangible suggestions for putting scripture to action in your personal life and in our corporate body, links to the songs we will sing, and lyrics for you to prepare for our corporate singing.

Critically Think

  • Read Exodus 24. Who was speaking to Moses?
  • Who was invited on the mountain? Who was not to climb the mountain?
  • As a general overview, what did Moses recount to the people from God in vs. 3? Briefly skim chapters 20-23.
  • How did the people respond to what Moses relayed?
  • How was a record kept of the instructions given to the people?
  • What was the appearance of the mountain during God’s presence?

Prayerfully Meditate

  • What boundaries or restrictions were given regarding everyone’s proximity to God on the mountain? Also see Ex 19:12-13 for context.
  • How was God’s covenant with the people affirmed?
  • What provisions were set for the people as Moses was to ascend the mountain?
  • How is God described in this passage?
  • How was the Lord worshipped in this passage?

Intentionally Act

  • Read Exodus chapter 24 again.
  • Describe the seriousness of this occasion, particularly the instructions for proximity to the mountain, the sacrifices, and commitment to obedience.
  • Reflect on the people’s reverence toward God in this passage. What similarities or differences are there in a believer’s approach to God today? Also see 1 Timothy 2:5-6.
  • Have you ever made a commitment of obedience to the Lord as the people did in this passage? Did that commitment remain or not?
  • Repent of any sin that came to light in your life during the study of this passage.
  • Click the links below to find the lyrics and recordings of the songs planned for our gathering this Sunday; learn the songs, study the lyrics and sing them with others.
  • Pray for those leading our corporate gathering this week and for the Holy Spirit’s work as the Word of God is further explained and applied: Joel Conrad: music; Mark Krystyniak: elder prayer & scripture reading; Bret Capranica: teaching.
