Prepare your heart for our Sunday Morning Gathering by looking through these suggestions that will assist you in making the most of our time together.

You will find tangible suggestions for putting scripture to action in your personal life and in our corporate body, links to the songs we will sing, and lyrics for you to prepare for our corporate singing.

Critically Think

  • The primary text for Sunday's sermon will be Ephesians 5:25-33. Read all of chapter 5 to gain context.
  • What key verse from Chapter 5 is the instruction of verses 25-33 built on?
  • What are husbands commanded to do in verse 25?
  • Who is the husbands example?
  • What did Christ do for the church?
  • What was the purpose of Christs sacrifice according to verses 26-27?
  • How are husbands to love their wives according to verse 28?
  • For what reason shall a man leave his father and mother?
  • What is the result of a husband and wife being joined in marriage?
  • What relationship does marriage represent?

Prayerfully Meditate

  • Read Eph 5:18. How does being filled with the Spirit lead to a husband living out verses 25-33?
  • If a husband is to love his wife as Christ loved the church what must the husband have as the primary objective of his life that would lead him to this kind of love?
  • Focus on verses 25b-27. List out the “that/so that” statements. What stands out to you about the purpose of Christ’s love?
  • Consider verses 25-33 again. List the ways a husband is to love his wife.
  • According to this text, in what ways does marriage represent the relationship between Christ and the church?

Intentionally Act

  • Take some time to pray in light of this passage giving thanks to Christ for the saving and sanctifying love He has demonstrated to his bride the church.
  • Whether you are a man or woman, married or unmarried how can you live in light of the truths of this passage? List some ways.
  • Take some time to pray for others in the church body in light of this passage.
