• Read Daniel 9. (Focus on vs. 20-27)
• What does Daniel read in vs. 2 that prompts him to pray?
• Who comes to Daniel while he is praying? (Read Daniel 8:15-19 for background).
• What is the purpose of Gabriel’s coming to Daniel?
• What six events are listed in vs. 24?
• What biblical events are indicated in vs. 25?
• What will happen to the Messiah at the end of the 62 weeks according to vs. 26?
• Who will destroy the city and the sanctuary according to vs. 26?
• What will happen in the middle of the final week according to vs. 27?
• What does the second half of vs. 27 indicate?

Prayerfully Meditate

• Gabriel delivers a definite account of events. What does this tell us about God’s control over the future? How does that bring comfort to us?
• Gabriel states that he has come to give insight with understanding to Daniel in vs. 22. How does that effect the way that we read this passage?
• This passage relates measurements of time in vs. 24-27. Do they seem to be literal or symbolic or both? Why?

Intentionally Act

• What is Daniel praying in light of when Gabriel comes? How could this inform your prayers?
• What is the content of Daniels prayer? How could this be incorporated into your prayers?
