Critically Think

• Read Daniel 10.
• When is this event happening according to verses 1-3? Skim through Ezra 1-4 to see if you can determine approximately when this is during the timeline for Israel.
• What caused Daniel such anguish for 3 weeks?
• Starting in verse 4 Daniel is visited again, how does this visitor compare to the ones in Daniel 8 & 9? Is it the same visitor or different? How can you tell?
• How does Daniel and those around him respond to this visitor?
• What do we learn from the visitor's description of his delay?
• What is the purpose of the visit according to verse 14? How does Daniel respond?
• How is Daniel encouraged by this visitor?
• Why would the visitor need to leave again to fight?

Prayerfully Meditate

• What causes discouragement in life?
• Do we respond in prayer and fasting to discouragement and seek the Lord?
• Why does the truth of the future encourage believers? Be specific.
• How does the information regarding "princes" of different regions help us understand God's word and our present circumstances?

Intentionally Act

• When was the last time you considered fasting and praying for an answer to prayer that seeks to understand God's word more fully?
• Meditate on how future hope in God's plans can bring comfort and joy in trials now that settle our anxiousness or anger.
• Trust in the Lord in his timing and what we do not know and think not that we have better ways.
