Our Resurrection Weekend services begin with our Good Friday Evening Gathering, March 29 at 7:00 pm, and conclude with our regular Sunday activities on Resurrection Sunday Morning, March 31!

Carefully Think

  • If you can make time, try to read through all of Hosea (14 chapters).
  • Read Hosea 1:2-3. What did God ask Hosea to do? Why would he do that? Read 1:4-11 to read the names of the children and why they wee named as they were. What does it say about Israel's spiritual state and the physical illustration Hosea was to be to Israel.
  • Read 3:1-5. What does God ask of Hosea here? Why would God ask this of Hosea?
  • Skim through chapters 4-14 and note some of the key issues God points to that describe their spiritual idolatry.
  • Read 2:14-23. What are God's ultimate plan for Israel? Why?

Prayerfully Meditate

  • Why does God speak of idolatry in terms of adultery? What does it reveal about how we should view the worship of God or replacing the worship of God?
  • How does similar spiritual adultery take place today among those who profess to be God's people?
  • What is the best way a Christian should use this Old Testament message to Israel?
  • How insensitive to sin was Israel for God to use such a shocking example through Hosea? How does someone get to this extereme point of insensitivity to personal sin? What would keep your heart from becoming so insensitive to personal sin? to Corporate sin?

Intentionally Act

  • How do you need to personally respond to the message of Hosea? Over what should you repent?
  • How should the message of Hosea bring comfort and encouragement to you personally?
  • Is there anyone in your life you need to speak with about the message of sin and forgiveness as illustrated in Hosea?
  • Pray for those who will be present Sunday who do not know Christ, that they will be convicted of their need for a Savior and desire to follow Him.
  • Pray for Christians to be equipped and built up this Sunday, encouraged to respond in pure lives of worship and praise to Christ.
  • Pray for those who will be leading the service to edify the body in the best possible way: Dawson Bryant, music; Brandon Ferguson, prayer and Scripture Reading; Bret Capranica, teaching.
  • Listen to the music we will sing on Sunday, and meditate on the lyrics in a way that will best prepare you to sing to the Lord and encourage others in the church.
