The Music Ministry of Summit Woods Baptist Church has at its core the desire to magnify God by making disciples of Christ through singing, playing of instrument, and the reading of God's Word. Therefore, the music teams provide support to this desire in the corporate music during our gatherings, through musical accompaniment and special music.
There are a couple of ways to be involved in the music ministry of Summit Woods: the sanctuary choir, the children’s choir, and the instrumental team
Sanctuary Choir and Children’s Choir
The Sanctuary Choir provides support for our worship services and many other special services throughout the year. There are many opportunities for growth, fellowship, and praise as this group is open to anyone who would like to be involved; from seventh grade and up.
The focus of our Sanctuary Choir is people, that is, connecting people to the magnifying of God and discipleship through song.
The Children’s choir provides opportunities for your kindergarten through sixth grade children the opportunity to grow in musicianship, their love for God and Christ in the truths they sing, and in the role of music in the life of the church.
If you are interested in being involved with the sanctuary or children’s choir, please contact Dawson Bryant (dawson@swbcls.org).
Instrumental team
The aim of our instrumental team is to support the congregational music during our corporate gatherings.
While these instrumental roles are not biblically mandated, they do fit within the overall biblical mandate of the church, to magnify God by making disciples of Jesus Christ. This mission is furthered by the Worship Team in helping to foster our ministry purpose; especially in the area of Worship.
The focus of our Worship Team is music, that is, providing musical support to our corporate gatherings.
The Instrumental Worship Team is comprised of guitars, keyboards, percussion, and assorted string and orchestra instruments. The team seeks to support and implement the Philosophy of Music in Our Corporate Gatherings; particularly in the following ways:
- Committed and ongoing growth in the playing of your instrument
- Intentional, purposeful, and self-directed practice of the music when you are scheduled.
- Prompt arrival and preparation to rehearsal (generally Sunday mornings at 7:30 am)
- Familiarize yourself with the collection of songs we sing corporately
- Prioritize attendance to our monthly Saturday morning rehearsals
- Engage and interact regularly with our Philosophy of Music in our Corporate Gatherings, and seek how you can assist the congregation, outside of playing, to do the same.
If you are a member and interested in participating on the instrumental team please contact Dawson Bryant (dawson@swbcls.org).
