It is the mission of Summit Woods Baptist Church to magnify God by making disciples of Jesus Christ (Matt 28:18-20). While we believe the primary responsibility for the disciple making of children belongs to their parents (Eph 6:4), in light of the great commission, we also believe the local church has a significant role in coming alongside parents in this disciple making process. To that end our Grounded Student Ministry exists. We seek to come alongside parents through provided solid biblical preaching and teaching, partnering with parents in discipleship, and prayer. One of the primary times of teaching that we offer for students is during the Sunday morning equipping hour.

We cycle through a rotation of 9 classes every 3 years in an effort to equip students with a biblical worldview and to understand and apply the whole of God's Word. At times we split the class into a boys class and a girls class and at other times we have all the students together. There are a variety of men and women who teach the students.

Here’s an overview of the classes that we work through:

Fundamentals of the Faith
This class utilizes the same material that the adult equipping class uses in order to lay a doctrinal and practical foundation for the Christian life.

Singleness and Dating
We utilize material originally put together by Capital Hill Baptist Church to equip our students to think biblically about singleness and dating.

Forerunners of the Faith
Again, utilizing the same material that the adult EC uses, this class teaches the students about church history by studying key figures throughout the history of the church.

Old Testament Survey
In this class we cover every book of the OT in an overview fashion exposing the students to the entirety of the OT in a semester.

Biblical Manhood and Womanhood
Originally published by CHBC, this class teaches foundational biblical lessons on what it means to be a man and what it means to be a woman.

Sermon Study
We take this semester to utilize the sermon study material used for the adult class and focus on teaching the students how to study the Bible and how to receive the Word as it is preached on Sunday morning.

New Testament Survey
Like the OT survey class, the whole NT is covered by giving overviews of each one of the books of the NT.

9 Marks of a Healthy Church
Working through the original book by Mark Dever, in this class, we seek to expose the students to healthy ecclesiology (doctrine of the church).

The Bible and your Problems (Biblical counseling)
In this class we seek to teach and demonstrate the sufficiency of Scripture for all of life, showing how the Bible addresses the issues and challenges teens face.

Please pray that these classes would be useful, helpful, encouraging, and convicting for the students. Pray that they would be equipped to think and live biblical in all of life. Pray for those teaching, that they would both be dependent on the sufficiency of Scripture to do the work, and that they would engage the students well. Pray for parents to have edifying conversations with their students concerning what they are taught in these classes.
