The Sunday Morning Fellowship Team is the collection of all who serve as greeters, ushers, safety team members and Children’s Check-in greeters.
The aim of our Sunday Morning Fellowship team is to serve as a friendly point of contact, assistance and information for our members and guests attending the Sunday morning Gatherings and Equipping classes.
While these roles are not biblically mandated, they do fit within the overall biblical mandate of the church, to magnify God by making disciples of Jesus Christ. This mission is furthered by the Sunday Morning Fellowship in helping to foster our ministry strategy.
The focus of our Sunday Morning Fellowship team is people, that is, connecting our members and guests with others and with the ministry and discipleship emphases of the church.
The Sunday Morning Fellowship team is a means of communication and connection for our multi-faceted approach to what we want to emphasize in someone’s discipleship through our collective church ministry.
In functioning as a means of communication and connection for our members and guest to our essential priorities at Summit Woods; many of the Greeters, Ushers and Children’s check-in responsibilities on Sunday morning will be the same.
Engage
- Intentionally welcome our members and guests. Whether they are entering the front doors or the sanctuary, welcome them purposefully.
- Ask if you can you help them directionally around the building or find them a seat?
- Look for opportunities for others to engage them. After a cursory conversation, who could you introduce them to that would engage them well?
- When you are not officially serving, look for ways to engage our members and guest in helpful ways.
- Avoid conversations that are too engaging with each other or regular members that would preclude you from identifying and engaging a guest.
- Be in place and on time; ready to engage.
Connect
- Connect our guests to the areas of ministry: Children’s check-in, Student ministry, Equipping Class (such as the Fundamentals of the Faith), or the ushers in the sanctuary.
- Intentionally connect them to people. Do you know who is checking in kids? Who teaches the Fundamentals class? What usher could I connect them to?
- What family would connect well with a guest, or be engaging? Make introductions and establish those connections.
Communicate
- Familiarize yourself with the classrooms for children, students, and adults.
- Familiarize yourself with the current Equipping Classes. We’d suggest the Fundamentals of the Faith (if offered) class or the Bible book class for first time guests. But how are you helping members and longtime guests engage in any of these classes?
If you would like more information about serving on one of these teams, please contact Dawson Bryant (dawson@swbcls.org) and he can connect you with the leader of that team.
