Elder's Prayer

Heavenly Father and our LORD GOD Almighty,

We praise you, for you are the Judge of all the earth (Gensis 18:25). There is no creature hidden from your sight and all things are open and laid bare before your eyes (Hebrews 4:13). And nothing this is covered up or hidden that will not be revealed (Luke 12:2).

We know from your word that the Judge of all the earth will do what is right because you are righteous and just.

We thank you that we live in the Biblical era of finding you when we seek you. We thank you for this Church Age, in which the people of the earth can hear the gospel preached to them and respond in repentance and faith.

We praise you Gracious Father, for your mercies know no end. Your lovingkindness on those who fear you is from everlasting to everlasting. We thank you for that.

As those who have been recipients of your abundant grace and privileged to enjoy the freedoms that you have blessed us with in the land that we live in by your grace, we have at times exhibited a sense of complacency, lack of fervor and indifference for the things of God. Please forgive us. We confess and repent of our desire to pursue comfort at all costs for the flesh to the exclusion of our spiritual growth and obedience to Scriptures.

Please help us to never forget that Sodom and Gomorrah might be in existence today if there had been at least 10 righteous found in there.

Sodom and Gomorrah might be in existence today if the miracles of our Lord had been performed there instead of Capernaum (Matthew 11:23-24).

Lord Jesus, as you taught us that “to whom much is given, much will be required” (Luke 12:48). That is us.

We have the gospel. You are with us always. We have the word of God that we can study and understand with the help of the Holy Spirit. God has surrounded us with brothers and sisters who love the Lord as we do. God has blessed us with teachers of God’s word who want to honor God by rightly dividing your word. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for all of those tender mercies unto us. We have been on the receiving end for so long. Please help us to bear fruit as individual Christians and as the local body of Christ, every time you look for fruit in us.

Please help us to have faith that makes itself evident through our good works that glorify our Father.

Please do not take the lampstand away from our midst. Please reveal through your word, our blind spots. Please help us to be faithful until death. Please help us to hold fast to the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ until He returns. Please help us to overcome sin and all that entangles us. Please help us to confess and proclaim your holy name. Hallowed be your name in Summit Woods and beyond directly and through our Biblical partnerships.

May your kingdom come, and your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.

This we pray, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, Amen.
