Elder's Prayer

Taken from Psalm 118:1-9

Lord, we come before You this morning in thankfulness for Your goodness toward us.  You have shown Your goodness to us in so many ways and at the same time You have been good to us in ways we don’t even realize.  You have also protected us and loved us in ways we can’t even imagine or understand.

Your word is clear, in that Your lovingkindness endures forever. You are always working in our lives to bring about what is good for us and what brings You glory.

Help us Lord to call upon You at all times, not only when we are in trouble, but, also let us never forget that You are always with us as our Sovereign Lord and are ready to help us in our times of distress and anxiety.  In times when the evil one would lead us to despair Your Spirit is there to lead us to Christ. You hear our cries and are able to set us in a large place.

You set us free from fear and worry. You are able to set our hearts in a place of peace beyond understanding.  Help us daily not to fear our circumstances or man. May You always be big in our lives and man small.

Likewise, please help us not to place our ultimate trust and confidence in people, in rulers, in authorities, but in You.  Men will always fail us, but, You never will. Thank You Lord, that You are our ready refuge in both times of distress and times of ease.

In Jesus’ name I pray…
