Elder's Prayer

Lord, our God and our Redeemer. We are humbled and grateful that we can come before You this morning to not only praise and worship You, but, to also hear from You through Your Word.

Your Word, having been divinely inspired by the work of Your Spirit, is our ultimate source of direction, consolation and comfort in this world.

Your word itself tells us in 2 Tim 3:16, “All scripture is God-breathed and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be equipped for every good work”

And also in 2 Peter 1:21 we read, “for no prophecy was ever made by the will of man, but men being moved by the Holy Spirit spoke from God”

We, as frail and fallen men and women, have no right to any expectation that You should consider us or even be mindful of our existence, much less that You would communicate with us through Your very words, but You do.

And it is by the gracious work of Your Son, Jesus, whom You sent, according to Your good pleasure, to be the payment for the sin debt we could never pay, that we are in a position to hear and receive Your words.

Help us, this morning to not be hearers only of Your word, but, to be doers as well.

Lord, we thank You for Your kind and gentle mercies on us.

May You be glorified, magnified and lifted up this morning.

In Jesus’ name I pray.
