Romans 15:12, “and Isaiah says, “there shall come the root of Jesse, and He who arises to rule over the Gentiles, in Him shall the Gentiles hope” 

Lord, we thank you for this promise of the Savior. The promise of the Messiah. This promise that was given to us through Your prophet Isaiah so many, many years before the earthly birth of the Promised One. 

The Promised One was to come from the Root of Jesse and the line of David. His Kingdom will endure forever. 

This promise You made was to give hope to man-kind. Hope that this Messiah would rule over not only the Gentiles, but as we know from Your word, over all of man-kind 

And this ruling over man-kind would be an eternal rule. This rule, this sovereign Kingship would provide the hope of salvation. The surety of forgiveness of sin and the glorious gift to Your children to spend eternity with You in Paradise. 

Lord, we see in Your Word in Revelation 22:16b that our Lord and Savior, the Messiah Jesus, tells us…”I am the root and the descendant of David, the bright morning star”…  

Lord, we are thankful that in Your kindness, mercy, grace and love, You have made it abundantly clear, thousands of years ago that You promised to send a Messiah. You have kept that promise 

We thank You and praise You for that and may You be lifted up and glorified in our worship this morning.
